Download Free Statewide Data
For many years CGIA served as the primary distribution point for state government GIS data sets. Now, we are pleased to offer data-distribution through the NC OneMap GeoSpatial Portal. Visit the Geospatial Portal to discover data, download data, or stream data through a web service directly into a desktop or web application. Keyword searches and searches by spatial extent make it easy to find content in a user's area of interest. To see a list of data offerings, click on Browse in the Nav Bar. Then open ISO Topic Category for a listing of topics. Click on a topic for a list of datasets for that topic area. For more information, contact CGIA at firstname.lastname@example.org
Additional Data Distribution Options
Data resources provided through the NC OneMap program are delivered in common data formats and projections. CGIA can provide transformation and conversion services when client requirements call for unique projections or large quantities of data are involved. Contact email@example.com for detailed conversion services or request a quotation.
Viewing North Carolina Data
Everyone with an Internet browser can view and use numerous data sets through the NC OneMap Data Explorer (no GIS software is necessary). The Data Explorer is a map-based application that enables users to intuitively search for, discover and view geospatial data. The Data Explorer is just one feature of the NC OneMap program.
Access to Local Geospatial Data and County GIS web services
See Access to Local Geospatial Data Online for the status of the availability of parcels and street centerlines for all 100 counties. The list indicates whether the datasets are available for download from the county Website, from the county Map Viewer, or both. Links to the county Website or the Map Viewer are included. Check the links as additional datasets may be available for free download. Please note that the data download tool for some web sites only support download of 500 features per layer. For a complete listing of North Carolina county GIS web services visit North Carolina State University Libraries.
National States Geographic Information Council Ramona GIS Inventory
Trying to find creators of North Carolina data? The easy-to-use Ramona resource, created by the National States Geographic Information Council, provides searchable status maps that reveal which local or state government agencies have produced a specific data set. The link takes you directly to the North Carolina map but you may also search on other states. Select from among 460 data themes to discover available data; then click the “I”dentify tool on the status map to retrieve more detailed information from the data producer. Another important feature of the Ramona GIS Inventory is the searchable directory of registered data producers in North Carolina. If you have North Carolina data to add to the inventory, please log-in and complete your Inventory entry. You do not need to register to use the status maps and directory functions.
